Ultra Rare 0.54 Cts Natural Musgravite, Collector's Grade Gem

This 0.54 ct natural musgravite displays a deep smoky gray appearance with subtle blue-green reflections visible in the photographs. Its nearly square cushion shape, softened corners, and combined brilliant and step faceting produce contrasting silvery flashes against darker facets. Fine inclusions visible under magnification add interest to this rare collector’s gemstone. Measuring 5.51 × 5.15 × 2.54 mm, it is accompanied by a report from the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), confirming its identification as natural musgravite. Musgravite is an exceptionally rare magnesium–beryllium–aluminium oxide gemstone closely related to taaffeite. Named after the Musgrave Ranges of South Australia, where it was first discovered, it is highly prized by collectors for the scarcity of material suitable for faceting. Its Mohs hardness of 8–8.5 provides considerable scratch resistance, while its close resemblance to taaffeite requires advanced testing, such as Raman spectroscopy or X-ray diffraction, for reliable identification.
