Ultra Rare 0.50 Cts Natural Musgravite, Collector's Grade Gem

This 0.50 ct natural musgravite displays a smoky gray body color with delicate mauve-pink reflections visible in the photograph. Its elongated cushion shape and combined brilliant and step faceting create contrasting flashes of light across the stone, highlighting its glassy luster. Measuring 5.95 × 4.08 × 2.42 mm, this rare collector’s gemstone is accompanied by a report from the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), identifying it as natural musgravite. Musgravite is an exceptionally rare magnesium–beryllium–aluminium oxide gemstone closely related to taaffeite. Named after the Musgrave Ranges of South Australia, where it was first discovered, it is prized by collectors for the scarcity of facetable material. With a Mohs hardness of 8–8.5, musgravite combines considerable scratch resistance with gemological interest. Its similarity to taaffeite makes advanced laboratory testing, such as Raman spectroscopy or X-ray diffraction, essential for reliable identification.
